My little girl turns 6 next week and she has been saving up for an American Girl doll since last January. We promised that we would take her to an American Girl store for her 6th birthday if she saved up enough money to buy a doll. We gave her the choice between Dallas, Chicago and New York and she chose Chicago. So this past weekend we packed our bags, dropped my son of at my in-laws’ and flew to the windy city. Here are a few highlights from our trip.
First stop, American Girl Place
She picked her favorite
Checking out the view from the 96th floor of the John Hancock building
Maddie loved being up higher than all of the other buildings
We stayed at a hotel right on the river, which was dyed green for St. Patrick’s Day
Of course, we visited the Field Museum and met Sue
We had lunch at an Irish pub on St. Patty’s day and were lucky enough to be there when a pipe band came in to play. After they’re performance for the entire restaurant, one bag piper came over to our table and played “Happy Birthday” to Maddie. So awesome!
