You’ve booked your photo session…now what?
1 . Plan your outfits. Long gone are the days of matching white shirts and jeans. Coordinate colors and patterns as if you were pulling one outfit together. Also, think of where you’re going to display your photos. When you display your artwork, you want it to look good in it’s space. My home is decorated fairly neutral, so I like to keep our family photos neutral with little pops of color. If you need help with ideas, scour Pinterest for “outfits for photo shoots”.
2. Make sure you are well-rested. Make sure you and your children get plenty of rest the night before your session. Happy children = beautiful photos! Also, consider bringing snacks for your children. Hungry children = unhappy children and unhappy children are usually uncooperative!
3. Don’t forget the accessories. Does your child have a favorite blanket or toy? Bring them. Also, jewelry, scarves and hats add more depth and interest to your photos.
4. Have fun! I am here to make your photo experience enjoyable. Don’t worry if your kids are doing exactly what you want them to. I have a few tricks that I can use to help them relax and feel comfortable. Plus, I personally love family photos that are “real”. If your baby is crying or your toddler is making a sulky face, then just roll with it. Years from now you will look back at those photos and remember what it was like when your kids were that small.
5. Watch for you preview. I will post a sneak peek from your session on my Facebook page. If you’re not already following my business page, please do so. You can find it at www.facebook.com/tracycalhounphotography.
